Posted on: 03 October, 2016
If you love the kind of jaw-dropping, edge-of-your-seat action at every World Championship race, you sure will want to keep a tab on this 19-year-old racing sensation who's making headlines and how. Lorenzo Dalla Porta has signed up with us and fans all over the world are enthusiasta. The youngster is one of the most promising names doing the rounds on the MotoGPTM circuit, so here are five reasons that will have you watch Dalla Porta like a hawk!
1. He doesn't kid around
While most of us wrote our final exams and were busy applying to college, this young lad was lighting up the CIV 125 GP Championship in 2012 at the young age of 15! As they say, “If they're good enough, they’re old enough. We sure agree.
2. He began with a bang
Dalla Porta made his debut in the World Championship in 2015 as a replacement rider for Isaac Viñales of the Husqvarna Factory Laglisse team in the second half of the season. He put up a strong fight, thrilling the fans and left us wanting more.
3. He's got big boots to fill
For those wondering what the hype around this new kid on the block is all about, Dalla Porta had taken the place of Romani Fenati in the Sky Racing Team VR46 for the rest of the 2016 season. Impressive.
4. He's a super sub
Dalla Porta has been building a reputation of being one of the most impactful subs around. Earlier this year he rode in the Italian GP in place of Philipp Oettl of the Schedl GP Racing team – finishing 15th and clinching an important World Championship point. Later in the season, he replaced an injured Jorge Navarro in the Dutch GP and finished 10th. This boy is on fire!
5. He's bringing in the big guns
To build up an already gobsmacking resume, Dalla Porta is the 2016 FIM CEV Repsol Moto3 Junior World Champion. He reportedly turned down offers from a number of teams, in order to sign with us (why we absolutely love the lad). Here’s hoping he takes next season by storm. Make us proud, Dalla Porta.
We're buzzing to see this lad on our MGP3O next season. Catch him on the track amidst all the World Championship action. Benvenuto, Dalla Porta!
