Nyck&rsquo;s promise was evident from an early age, with a string of national, continental and international karting championships &ndash; including two World Karting titles &ndash; before graduating to single seaters in 2012.
After two seasons gaining vital experience, de Vries was crowned champion in the Formula Renault Eurocup in 2014, as well as winning the affiliated ALPS series. He then stepped up into Formula Renault 3.5, finishing third. That prompted a move to GP3, in which the Dutchman finished sixth with two victories.
His continued rise through the junior formulae culminated in FIA Formula 2, in which de Vries was crowned champion in 2019, before turning his sights on the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Making his debut in Diriyah in Season 6, de Vries took his maiden win at the same circuit a year later. A further win in Valencia, plus two podiums in London, proved enough for de Vries to triumph in a hard-fought championship battle over team-mate Edoardo Mortara by just seven points. It also made him the first FIA-sanctioned Formula E World Champion.
After one more season &ndash; and another two wins &ndash; de Vries departed for Formula 1, including stints at Williams and Scuderia AlphaTauri. Now, he returns to the FIA&rsquo;s all-electric series, with the ambition of winning another world title at Mahindra Racing.

NYCK DE VRIES

Edoardo&rsquo;s single-seater career began in 2006 with a dual Italian and European campaign in Formula Renault, winning the Rookie title in the former.
He then graduated to the Formula Three Euroseries, lifting the championship in 2010. The same year, he also took the second of his seven wins on the streets of Macau to-date, having triumphed for the first time a year prior.
With his status as &lsquo;one to watch&rsquo; confirmed on a global stage, Mortara then enjoyed stints in the GP2 Series and Formula Renault 3.5, before making his DTM debut in 2011. Over the next six years, Edo became a household name in the series, racing for the likes of Audi and DTM. His best finish was 2nd in 2016.
Edo made his Formula E debut in Hong Kong back in Season 4, scoring his first podium in just his second race in the championship. He took his maiden victory at the same venue a year later and has since added five further triumphs &ndash; plus six additional podiums &ndash; to establish himself as one of the series&rsquo; household names.
Mortara joins Mahindra Racing for Season 10 with the ambition of using his speed, experience, and race craft to help return to the team to winning ways in the future.

Mahindra Racing today announces that L&eacute;na B&uuml;hler will participate in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship&rsquo;s Women&rsquo;s Test in Valencia next month [7 November].
The Swiss racer widely impressed during F1 Academy&rsquo;s inaugural season last year, claiming race victories in Barcelona and Monza, plus a further 11 podiums, en route to finishing as vice-champion.
Now, with the support of one of Formula E&rsquo;s iconic manufacturers, the 27-year-old will have the opportunity to test the brand-new GEN3 Evo Formula E car, the fastest-ever FIA single-seater, during the final afternoon of pre-season testing at Circuit Ricardo Tormo.
As well as the chance to drive the Mahindra M11Electro, B&uuml;hler will also benefit from the support of the team&rsquo;s race drivers, Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara, as well as the team&rsquo;s engineering and performance departments to assist in her development.
Alongside the test, Formula E will also host an expanded programme with FIA Girls on Track, using the event as a platform on which to showcase the broad spectrum of opportunities available for women in motorsport.
B&uuml;hler&rsquo;s test with the team will be on Thursday, 7 November between 14:00 &ndash; 17:00, with the session marking the end of a week of pre-season testing in Spain, before Season 11 begins in Sao Paolo a month later, on 7 December.
Speaking on the news, L&eacute;na B&uuml;hler commented: &ldquo;I&rsquo;m very grateful to have this opportunity to take part in the Women&rsquo;s Test with Mahindra Racing.
&ldquo;It&rsquo;s one of the championship&rsquo;s iconic names, and with two strong drivers, and a wealth of engineering knowledge and experience, I know I&rsquo;ll have not only a fantastic opportunity to learn, but also be given the best preparation possible for my first time in the Formula E car.
&ldquo;This test is such a great initiative, and the GEN3 Evo is going to be a very interesting car to drive. The goal is to learn as much as possible, both in and out of the car, and make sure I&rsquo;m spending time with the team, understanding the processes and so on to grow as a driver. Above all, I just want to enjoy the experience!&rdquo;

Léna Bühler to drive for Mahindra Racing at Formula E Women's Test in Valencia

Mahindra Racing yesterday unveiled the Mahindra M11Electro, it&rsquo;s brand-new challenger for Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
As part of an exclusive event to unveil the new car at the team&rsquo;s Banbury headquarters, we caught up with drivers Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara, as well as CEO and Team Principal, Frederic Bertrand.
&ldquo;Nyck, Edo &ndash; we&rsquo;re here at the launch of Mahindra Racing&rsquo;s brand-new Season 11 car, at the very beginning of Formula E&rsquo;s GEN3 Evo era. What are your thoughts?&rdquo;
EM: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s an exciting time for the team. Last season was all about putting down strong foundations for the future, and with the new GEN3 Evo car, we have a chance now to build on that, and to keep improving.&rdquo;
NDV: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s been a busy off-season for the whole team, everybody&rsquo;s been flat out to try and maximise this opportunity that a new car gives us. Events like this, when you see the car in its livery and bring everyone together, suddenly make it feel like the season isn&rsquo;t so far away. Hopefully it&rsquo;s going to a good one!&rdquo;
&ldquo;You&rsquo;ve both had an opportunity to test the new car. How does it feel to drive?&rdquo;
NDV: &ldquo;So far, I&rsquo;ve had one day in Mallorca, which was generally positive. The tyres bring quite a significant step in performance, they have more performance, but different characteristics.
&ldquo;I think, from a general car operations point of view, we&rsquo;ve made further steps from how we ended last season. I don&rsquo;t think the car will feel drastically different, the fundamentals are the same, but we hope to have gained some efficiency, and we&rsquo;ve fine-tuned our software systems a little bit. But we&rsquo;re still in the process of testing and developing, especially around the new regulations and the implications of them.&rdquo;
EM: &ldquo;It feels good! The four-wheel drive is definitely something different, compared to last year. It feels nicer to drive, with more power and more grip available, which makes it quicker. We&rsquo;ll see how it impacts on the races, combined with the improved tyres, so I think it&rsquo;ll be an enjoyable car to drive. I&rsquo;m looking forward to racing with it.&rdquo;
&ldquo;Nyck, the team made great steps forward last season. What&rsquo;s the realistic ambition, this time around?&rdquo;
NDV: &ldquo;Frankly speaking, I don&rsquo;t know &ndash; it&rsquo;s impossible to know what our competition are doing. We&rsquo;ve seen quite some changes from Season 9 to Season 10, especially across the Jaguar and Porsche teams. There&rsquo;s been a shift between the customer versus the manufacturer teams.
&ldquo;So, it&rsquo;s very challenging to predict and forecast what the picture looks like. There are no weak teams on this grid, so the competition is only going to get more and more difficult, but I believe we are on the right track.
&ldquo;What is realistic, I genuinely couldn&rsquo;t say at this point.&rdquo;
&ldquo;Nyck, what sort of style racing do you think we can expect this new car, and the changes to the format, to produce? Will it be different to GEN3?&rdquo;
NDV: &ldquo;The race strategy will likely change a little bit, the impact of having four-wheel drive in Attack Mode is going to be greater, so we expect to gain more lap time and performance when we&rsquo;re activating it. It will be a tool that can be used to make up positions, whereas I feel in the last two seasons, with the style of racing, it was more something you wanted to get rid of.
&ldquo;Having said that, the tyre degradation is quite significant, so we have to take that into account as well and see how we put those two aspects together to execute a strong race.&rdquo;
&ldquo;And, looking ahead to Valencia, what is the focus for the team across that week of collective testing?&rdquo;
EM: &ldquo;Like always during testing, the goal is to learn as much as we can with the new car. It&rsquo;s going to be challenging, given the number of new factors to consider, but it seems to me that the team has done its homework, a lot of mileage during testing and so far, everything&rsquo;s been going well. Let&rsquo;s see where we stand against our competitors.&rdquo;
NDV: &ldquo;I&rsquo;m honestly really looking forward to getting our new season underway. It&rsquo;s been a while, aside from the one test day so far. We&rsquo;re heading into launch week, a lot of test days and Valencia, so it&rsquo;s always exciting to get towards a new season again.
&ldquo;Valencia is a little bit more relevant than it used to be, as we&rsquo;re moving into more and more permanent race tracks, so we will be able to learn things that will be relevant to our season, and I&rsquo;m sure that, at times, people will be look for a little bit of performance. But ultimately, the priority is to get ready for Sao Paolo.&rdquo;
&ldquo;Thanks, both. Fred, coming to you now - you&rsquo;ve had 18 months now at the team. Mahindra Racing has made plenty of changes &ndash; and progress &ndash; in that time. What opportunity does GEN3 Evo represent to make that next step?&rdquo;
FB: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s definitely been a busy time for the whole team, because we know that with every regulation change in Formula E comes an opportunity to move up the field. Last season was all about putting a framework for success in place; not just hiring two world-class drivers but optimising our engineering and performance departments so that they are able to extract the maximum possible. We started to see the benefits of that towards the end of last season, and I&rsquo;m hoping Season 11 will be a continual improvement from that.&rdquo;
&ldquo;This has always been billed as a long-term project, to bring Mahindra Racing back to the front in Formula E. What can fans expect from the team this season?&rdquo;
FB: &ldquo;The key will be understanding where we are relative to the competition, and Valencia is absolutely crucial for that. We know that we have taken a step forward, but the question is whether everybody else has, too. Once we have that understanding of the pecking order &ndash; or at least an idea &ndash; then we can start to plan our goals and objectives accordingly. But we want to be fighting for points on a regular basis, as a minimum.&rdquo;
Formula E's annual collective test at Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valencia, is next for the team on 4-7 November.

Q&A: Season 11, GEN3 Evo and the Mahindra M11Electro explained! 

Mahindra Racing today unveiled the M11Electro, its latest challenger in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, as part of its Season 11 launch.
The team&rsquo;s striking new challenger &ndash; unveiled at an exclusive event at the outfit&rsquo;s headquarters in Banbury - centres around a metallic red, silver satin and carbon black livery to create what will be an eye-catching spectacle out on track.
But it&rsquo;s more than just a fresh look; the Mahindra M11Electro is another strong step forward in technology. At the centre of the project is a brand-new powertrain, developed by Mahindra Racing, along with revised aerodynamic, suspension and rear-end packages.
The end result is that the car is the fastest-ever FIA single-seater, capable of accelerating from 0-60 in just 1.82 seconds &ndash; 30% quicker than contemporary Formula 1 cars, with a top speed of 200mph.
But beyond the challenge of a new car, the team has also been hard at work understanding the latest Formula E ruleset, most notably the introduction of all-wheel drive in the Duels, at race starts and during the twice-mandatory Attack Mode activations, adding an exciting new strategic element to each E-Prix.
The car&rsquo;s improved performance is equally-matched by Hankook&rsquo;s new, grippier tyres, estimated to give the car between 5-10% more performance out on-track.
Understanding these changes and implementing solutions has been essential, as the team continues to re-build back towards the form that has won it 5 E-Prix, 24 podiums and 10 pole positions in over a decade of competition in the FIA&rsquo;s all-electric racing series.
Season 11 is set to be another step on that journey, with the ambition of using the regular, points-scoring form the team achieved during the latter half of Season 10 as a platform for continued growth for the future.
Testing with the M11Electro has been very positive to-date, with an average of 500 kilometres per test day, which ranks among the best mileage ever achieved by the team in pre-season as they set out to first prove the car&rsquo;s reliability, and then more recently home in on greater performance.
Mahindra Racing also continues to be driven by a passion for a greener and more sustainable future. Having already built up a proud track record in this area over the last ten years, Season 11 will see the team launch its latest initiatives as it continues its goal to race towards a cleaner, faster, and more sustainable future.
Speaking on the launch of the new livery, Mahindra Racing CEO&nbsp;Frederic Bertrand&nbsp;said, &ldquo;It&rsquo;s always an exciting point in the pre-season when we gather everybody together to launch not just our new car, the Mahindra M11Electro, but also to celebrate an exciting new chapter in Formula E.
&ldquo;And it&rsquo;s fitting that we chose to invite our guests to our factory for the first time ever, as this has been where everything has slowly fallen into place over the off-season, both in terms of developing the powertrain, but also working hard to optimise everything and make sure we are prepared for the format changes. Having made changes to our team structure last year, things are slowly falling into place.
&ldquo;A lot will have changed on track, too, and we have to see where we are relative to the competition, but we&rsquo;ve had a positive off-season, testing has progressed as planned, so now we&rsquo;re looking forward to heading to Valencia with the other teams next month to get a better read on what our GEN3 Evo car will be capable of.&rdquo;
Preparing for his second season with Mahindra Racing, Nyck de Vries added: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s always interesting when Formula E introduces a new car. It&rsquo;s important that we continue to evolve with the technology, and this new GEN3 Evo in particular will add some different elements to the racing.
&ldquo;The car looks fantastic, and testing has gone well. I&rsquo;m confident that we can continue to make steps forward as a team and pick up the momentum from where we left off at the end of Season 10.&rdquo;
With preparations for Valencia well underway, team-mate Edoardo Mortara said: &ldquo;Testing has definitely been promising so far, but as always, there is plenty to do to ensure we keep developing and keep improving.
&ldquo;A new car is a fresh opportunity for all the teams, and seeing it here in person, with the new livery, everything feels a lot more real. I can&rsquo;t wait to get to Valencia and to get a clearer understanding of where we are, and where we can go from here.&rdquo;

Mahindra Racing announces Castore as Official Sportwear & Apparel Partner

Mahindra Racing has delivered a positive update on its GEN3 Evo testing programme as the team prepares for Season 11 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
The upcoming season marks the next evolution in the FIA&rsquo;s all-electric series, with the introduction of the new GEN3 Evo car symbolic of the progress made over the past decade in a championship where innovation, cutting-edge technology and the push for sustainability meet.
The GEN3 Evo is a thoroughbred racer, capable of accelerating from 0-60mph in just 1.82 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating FIA single-seater in the world.
Also among the highlights is a re-modelled body kit, designed to be more aggressive and robust, allowing for more aerodynamic benefit. Hankook continue as tyre supplier, and their tyres will from Season 11, have 5-10% more grip than their current counterparts, and in total, the GEN3 Evo is estimated to perform 2% better across the board than the outgoing GEN3 model.
Perhaps most intriguing, however, is the introduction of AWD (all-wheel drive), which will be available to drivers during the qualifying Duels, their mandatory Attack Mode activations, and at the start of each E-Prix.
In order to be best-prepared for the new regulations, which represent an opportunity to make progress up the grid, Mahindra Racing has, over the past twelve months, developed its GEN3 Evo programme.
The team has now begun testing its new machinery, with Technical Director, Josef Holden, delivering on a positive update on the early running so far.
&ldquo;Generally, pre-season testing is progressing strongly,&rdquo; says Holden. &ldquo;Out of the 16 days we&rsquo;re entitled to as a manufacturer from Formula E, we&rsquo;ve parallelised how we work with reliability and performance testing, especially where four-wheel drive is concerned, because that&rsquo;s such a major factor and change for Season 11.
&ldquo;So, whereas normally you&rsquo;d focus on reliability first, and then move on to performance, we&rsquo;ve had a 60-40 split on those. Having said that, we&rsquo;ve already completed thousands of kilometres on our race-intent hardware.
&ldquo;In comparison to the same stage in testing ahead of GEN3, which everybody knows had a difficult gestation period, we didn&rsquo;t even have that race-intent hardware with us until the combined Valencia test. If you take the energy management system we were running, that was also new and delivered to us in Valencia.
&ldquo;Realistically, we&rsquo;re significantly further ahead than we were before. From the test days we&rsquo;ve run so far, we&rsquo;re averaging 500 kilometres a day, which is among some of our best testing to-date. Now we just need to take that through to a track against our competitors, as on a private day, you&rsquo;re only able to compare to yourself. We&rsquo;ll see where that puts us.&rdquo;
Mahindra Racing&rsquo;s Reserve and Development Driver, Jordan King, has completed most of the early running with the new car, providing a strong baseline for the team&rsquo;s race drivers, Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara, to build on.
He credits the team with a rigorous approach to pushing the limits of the GEN3 Evo, with testing the perfect opportunity to find &ndash; and then refine &ndash; the limits of performance.
&ldquo;Progress has been very good, but as always, there is more to be done,&rdquo; explains King. &ldquo;We had a few teething problems at the start with everything new on the car, but that&rsquo;s to be expected and is, in many respects, the first priority when we go testing, to resolve those.
&ldquo;Now we&rsquo;re able to test everything more rigorously and push it to breaking point. The main goal at the moment is to get mileage, push the machinery to the limits and see what it&rsquo;s capable of. I think we&rsquo;ve achieved all of that.
King also gave an insight into some of the key areas the team is pushing hard to understand, in order to have the best chance of success on-track when racing resumes in Sao Paolo this December.
&ldquo;There&rsquo;s quite a lot we&rsquo;re now able to do with the front powertrain, so that&rsquo;s been consuming a lot of our time,&rdquo; explains King. &ldquo;We also have new tyres to understand, and those two aspects together change a lot in terms of how the car behaves.
&ldquo;So, a lot of our work at the moment is trying to understand that, optimise it and work out where the performance lies. We&rsquo;re almost re-visiting things we&rsquo;ve previously done on the GEN3 car to check whether they now work with this new car, or we need to adapt and go in a different direction entirely.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;m enjoying the process, it&rsquo;s been interesting and, because the development has happened so quick, it&rsquo;s a very cool programme to be a part of. You make a small change and the result on track is huge, it&rsquo;s not like testing an established car where it&rsquo;s refining and making tiny adjustments or optimising a setup.&rdquo;

Mahindra Racing proudly announces it has received the Best Social Media Content Award at the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship&rsquo;s end of season gala for its documentary series, Together We Rise.
Under the leadership of CEO and Team Principal, Frederic Bertrand, the team is on a journey to recapture the form that won it five E-Prix, 24 podiums and 11 pole positions over the past decade in the FIA&rsquo;s all-electric series after a challenging start to the GEN3 era.
Together We Rise was conceived to be the very cornerstone of this journey, offering fans an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look into every facet of Mahindra Racing through Season 10 and documenting the steps of the rebuilding process with honesty, transparency and candidness. This isn&rsquo;t a documentary about racing; it&rsquo;s a documentary about people.
Episodes had a wide-ranging focus, including the announcement of the team&rsquo;s new driver pairing of Nyck de Vries and Edoardo Mortara, the devastating fire during the pre-season Valencia test, Formula E&rsquo;s first visit to Japan, a road trip through the Monaco hills with the Automobil Pininfarina Battista hyper-GT &ndash; and much more!
In its latest episode, the team also offered fans the best access of any manufacturer to the testing programme for its GEN3 Evo car, set to be introduced to Formula E from Season 11 later this year. Mahindra Racing wins Formula E Best Social Media Content Award

Mahindra Racing ended Season 10 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship on a high with its biggest points haul of the campaign at the series&rsquo; showstopping London finale. 
After a journey spanning 14 races, across 9 countries and 5 continents in the FIA&rsquo;s all-electric series, London&rsquo;s ExCeL street circuit set the stage for a breathtaking final two contests on the calendar.
The world&rsquo;s first indoor-outdoor motor racing circuit always produces ultra-competitive action, and so it proved to be in qualifying for Mahindra&rsquo;s pairing, Nyck de Vries (NED) and Edoardo Mortara (CHE), on each day.
On Saturday, the duo underlined the Mahindra M10Electro&rsquo;s progress as a package across Season 10, storming through the 22-car field to score fourth and fifth, the team&rsquo;s biggest points haul, and strongest two-car race result, of the campaign.
After an &lsquo;elbows out&rsquo; approach to a chaotic opening few laps, both de Vries and Mortara expertly managed their mandatory ATTACK MODE activations, their energy levels relative to the cars around and kept a cool ahead whilst others lost theirs to rise to the front, bagging 22 points in the process.
Formula E&rsquo;s action-packed nature came back to bite them in race trim on Sunday, however. Mortara was an early casualty after contact from another competitor forced him to retire on lap two.
De Vries had put in another impressive drive to the fringes of the top ten, but picked up a puncture in the closing laps and ultimately crossed the line in P16.
Mahindra Racing ends Season 10 placed fifth in the Manufacturers Trophy, and tenth overall in the Teams Championship. Together with de Vries and Mortara, the team looks ahead with optimism to the start of a new chapter in Formula E, and the introduction of the new GEN3 Evo car from Season 11 later this year.
Reflecting on a dramatic end to a blockbuster Formula E season, Edoardo Mortara said: &ldquo;Saturday was a really good team result for us, with fourth and fifth. We started further back, and the opening laps were a matter of surviving.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;m really happy to come away with this result, and to end the season on a high.&rdquo;
Having battled his way impressively through to lead the team&rsquo;s charge in London on Saturday, Nyck de Vries added: &ldquo;It was a chaotic weekend; the key was staying out of trouble, executing the strategy well and making the right calls and the right time.
&ldquo;We were competitive, strong on energy compared to some of the cars in front and we had good pace. It&rsquo;s a great result for the team, and a positive way to end the season.&rdquo;
Optimistic for the future after an encouraging campaign, Mahindra Racing CEO &amp; Team Principal Frederic Bertrand commented: &ldquo;It&rsquo;s great to end the season with our best result of the season, it continues the upward trend that we have seen in recent races and gives us extra motivation going into what will be a very important winter for us as a team.

Mahindra Racing ends Formula E season on a high in London

Mahindra Racing opened the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship&rsquo;s showpiece London finale in fine style, storming through to its first double points finish &ndash; and best result - of the season.
Starting down in the midfield after a typically hard-fought qualifying in the FIA&rsquo;s all-electric finale, both Nyck de Vries (NED) and Edoardo Mortara (CHE) kept their cool amidst a chaotic first few laps around the London ExCeL street circuit to move into the top ten.
From there, a combination of teamwork, grit and a well-executed strategy on energy management put them in the mix among the leaders, despite two late-race Safety Car interventions throwing a spanner in the works.
Cheered on by a capacity crowd packed with the team&rsquo;s partner network, friends and family, De Vries remained composed and led team-mate Mortara home in fourth and fifth respectively, marking both the team&rsquo;s best result and first double points finish of Season 10.
The result moves Mahindra Racing up to eighth in the Teams Championship, with de Vries and Mortara similarly moving up in the Drivers&rsquo; stakes.
It also rounded out a strong day for Indian motorsports in general, with the team&rsquo;s Reserve Driver, Kush Maini, picking up a first career win in FIA Formula 2.
Formula E returns to action in London tomorrow for the season-ending Round 16.
Commenting on a season-best run to fourth, Nyck de Vries commented: &ldquo;It was a chaotic race, the key was staying out of trouble, executing the strategy well and making the right calls and the right time.
&ldquo;We were competitive, up on energy compared to some of the cars in front and we had good pace. It&rsquo;s a great result for the team.&rdquo;
With another strong points finish banked, Edoardo Mortara added: &ldquo;Today was a really good team result for us, with fourth and fifth. We started further back, and the opening laps were a matter of surviving.
&ldquo;I&rsquo;m really happy to come away with this result, and we go into the last race tomorrow looking to end the season on a high.&rdquo;
