D’Ambrosio and Lynn Pick Up Points in Berlin

9 August 2020, Berlin, Germany – This weekend saw Mahindra Racing undertake rounds eight and nine of the 2019/20 ABB FIA Formula E Championship, and Jerome D’Ambrosio and Alex Lynn tackle the third and fourth races of the six to be held at Berlin Tempelhof, with the season set to culminate on Thursday.

After four races in Berlin on two different circuit configurations, the team has advanced four times to Super Pole (two apiece for Jerome and Alex) and has seen both Jerome and Alex pick up championship points; with Alex’s debut points for Mahindra coming after today’s E-Prix and Jerome scoring twice.

Yesterday, both drivers set superb qualifying laps to secure a double Super Pole for the team, with Jerome and Alex setting the third and fifth fastest times respectively. They then both had a great start in the race, with Jerome moving up to second and Alex to fourth. Unfortunately, in the final quarter of the race, both drivers dropped down the order. Jerome was able to finish in seventh, collecting six points, while Alex crossed the line in 18th.

In today’s second race of the weekend’s double-header, Alex narrowly missed out on Super Pole, setting a qualifying lap time just three hundredths of a second off sixth placed Antonio Felix Da Costa, to line up seventh, while Jerome qualified in ninth. In the race, Alex made a good start, initially moving up to sixth and running as high as third, and he ultimately finished in ninth position to collect his first points for the team after a dash display issue saw him lose positions in the latter stages. Jerome fell to 11th at the start and, although he fought hard throughout, lost positions in the final handful of laps to pass the chequered flag in 15th.

The final two races of the season will take place on Wednesday 12 and Thursday 13 August on a new circuit configuration at Berlin Tempelhof. Both races begin at 7pm CEST.
