Four moments that thrilled passioneers in Season 4
Posted on: 10 August, 2018
A thrill until the end, Season 4 of Formula E - the world’s first all-electric racing series - had its ups and downs for passioneers.
We began the season with a bang - with race wins in two out of the first three races. Then we hit a bit of a roadblock as things didn't quite go our way, but we came back with solid points-scoring performances towards the end of the campaign.
As the sun has set on Season 4, we look back at four moments from the season that got passioneers out of their seats.
QUICK NICK ON THE PODIUM
Coming into the season, we were high on confidence as we looked to build on our third-place finish from Season 3. While we were aiming for victory, Nick Heidfeld third place finish was a good start as getting on the podium was paramount.
Quick Nick showed all his experience to begin on the front foot after an enthralling battle with future Formula E champion Jean-Eric Vergne. In the end, our German driver had to settle for third, but not before giving it his all as a passioneer always does.
FELIX WINS IN HONG KONG
Going into the second race of the weekend in Hong Kong, we were keen to build on Nick's performance a day before. And that is exactly what Felix Rosenqvist did!
After starting on pole, our Swedish speedster didn't have the best of starts - slipping out of the top 10 early on. Then what followed was a masterclass in street racing from Felix as he raced through the field to complete the race in P2.
That wasn't the end of an eventful weekend as Audi's Daniel Abt was disqualified due to a technical infringement and there it was - our first win of the season!
Race win, pole position, fastest lap - Fast Felix did it all!
TWO IN TWO FOR FAST FELIX
On the back of a victorious race, Felix left no stone unturned in Marrakesh as he drove a stunning race to make his way to the top of the podium.
Starting the race in P3, our Swede was involved in two intense battles with first Sam Bird and then Sebastien Buemi. In the end, Felix got the better of both to secure a third career Formula E win.
It was certainly a joy to hear the Indian national anthem during the podium ceremony, a moment we won't forget in a hurry.
What more, we led both the driver and team standings at this point, becoming the first-ever Indian team to lead an FIA championship.
RESURGENCE AT THE END
It was far from an ideal season for us after the first few races and when we landed in New York City for the final weekend of the season, we were keen to end the season on a high. In the Saturday race, we were not up to the mark, yet there was Nick who did brilliantly to score points.
On Sunday, both our drivers managed to finish in the top 10. With Felix in P5 and Nick in P8, it was a solid end to the season and the mini-resurgence gives us a platform to build from and take our game to the next level in Season 5.
