Job Description

Purpose of the Role:

Mahindra Racing are seeking 2 Performance Engineers, one to be factory based and one to be trackside.

Working as part of the Race Engineering Team and reporting to the Performance Director, the Race Performance Engineer will provide integral factory-based performance engineering support for both cars across race events with potential travel for test events. They will be a key contributor to the overall innovation, development, and implementation process for optimisation of car and driver performance.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Provide performance engineering support activities for all race events
  • Deliver targeted analysis pre-, during- and post-session and event to optimise car and driver performance
  • Improve and develop new methodologies for performance analysis
  • Optimise the data analysis workflow between factory and track, championing the streamlining and use of simulation tools to maximum effect
  • Innovate on and deliver concepts both on- and off-car that produce performance differentiation from our competitors
  • Support DiL activities for race event preparation, post-event correlation, system development and driver training
  • Fulfil the role of Performance Engineer for DiL duties – as required
  • Attendance to test events – as required
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Proven track record of a performance engineering role at the top level of motorsport, specifically F1, FE or LMP
  • Demonstrable understanding of vehicle dynamics fundamentals
  • Confident communicator, able to present and explain complex engineering subjects efficiently and effectively
  • A calm head on experienced shoulders, able to make structured decisions with sound reasoning
  • Evidence-based approach to problem solving

Controls Engineer

Job Description

Purpose of the Role:
  • Manage the Mahindra on-car control software builds and developments.
  • Integrate with the wider engineering group to plan, implement, test and deploy to the track changes to the car control systems code.
  • Development of code build, test and sign off tool chain and processes.
  • Support code testing using all tools available (HiL, DiL, Dyno and car).
  • Assist with all aspects of the car software and associated tools development (HiL/DiL etc.)
Key Accountabilities:

Develop software functions for Mahindra Racing FE race car:

  • From requirements documentation through to code implementation, test, calibration and sign off
  • Primarily in Simulink/Stateflow Matlab Scripting and C Code
  • Code will be developed for multiple different on-car ECUs
  • Supporting powertrain partners development team for the integration and control of all powertrain systems
  • Tasks will include small, maintenance tasks through to potentially larger software development items
  • Code test and sign off using HiL, DiL and the test car.
  • Providing support and ideas for the development of the race car control systems

Event support:

  • Provide support during race weekends for control systems from the factory
  • Develop to providing occasional and backup trackside event support
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
  • Understanding of modelling and simulation and the ability therefore to support maintenance and development of HiL and DiL rig systems
  • An understanding of electronics and wiring would be useful as this person may get involved in modifications to HiL or DiL rigs (including Vector CAPL)
  • PC software covering one or more of excel scripting, VB or C++ or C#
