MAHINDRA RACING LEAD TEAM AND DRIVER STANDINGS IN RACE AT HOME CHALLENGE
Round Five of the ABB Formula E Race At Home Challenge took place on Berlin’s Tempelhof track, the first time the sim series has featured this 2.375KM, ten corner track.
After qualifying in P4, Pascal Wehrlein was briefly down to P5 at the start but following a bold move on Gunther was back up to P4 by the end of lap two. For the next 13 laps, less than three seconds separated the top five drivers, but despite pushing hard Pascal was unable to find a way past Abt for the final podium spot. However, the day after the race, Daniel Abt was disqualified for sporting misconduct, which saw Pascal promoted to third position.
Jerome qualified in 16th position but was caught up in a first lap incident and ended up at the back of the field. He was eliminated at the end of lap 7 due to the ‘Race Royale’ format, finishing 21st.
Pascal’s third place finish sees him consolidate his position at the top of the drivers championship, eight points clear of second placed Stoffel Vandoorne. The result also saw Mahindra Racing take the top spot in the team’s championship, leading by two points with three rounds to go.
Earlier, Mahindra Racing’s Challenge Grid driver, Lucas Muller took another podium finish, crossing the finish line in third place.
