Mahindra Racing Focused On Berlin Double Header As Formula E Returns To Europe
Mumbai / Banbury, April 17, 2023: Mahindra Racing is preparing for rounds seven and eight of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship as the series heads to Berlin, Germany, for the second double header event of the year.
The team will be looking for an improvement on the previous event in Sao Paulo after mistakes in both qualifying and the race ruined any chance of a decent result. A points target is the least the team expects on its return to Berlin, in particular as both drivers have topped the podium at the Tempelhof circuit in the past.
Having won previously in Berlin, Lucas Di Grassi said: “Berlin is a Formula E classic and I’m looking forward to returning to the track. I’ve won there many times before but as a team, we will need to get everything right to score points. We don’t give up and we will work harder than ever to secure the best result possible.”
Aiming for an improvement on past rounds, Oliver Rowland said: “After a poor race in Brazil we head back to Europe to a track where I have had success in the past. I won my first race in Berlin, and I have also claimed pole positions and podiums there too. This time we will be looking for a bit of luck and an improvement in performance to pick up some points, which for the next rounds is the target.”
Looking ahead to the next race, the team’s CEO, Frederic Bertrand, said: “Our aim in Berlin is to be firmly within the points. Our race results in Sao Paulo were not what we expected to come away with, so we need to aim higher and improve as a team to not make the mistakes that we did in Brazil. We have been working very hard in the factory since the last race to make some improvements to the cars, so the drivers feel more comfortable. We are hoping that the double header in Berlin is as positive as the weekend in Brazil began. That’s where we need to be as a team.”
Round seven of the SABIC Berlin E-Prix begins at 15:00 local time on Saturday 22nd April (14:00 GMT, 18:30 IST), while round eight also begins at 15:00 on Saturday 23rd April (14:00 GMT, 18:30 IST).
