Mahindra Racing heads to Monaco for round nine of ABB FIA Formula E World Championship

Mumbai / Banbury, May 2, 2023: Mahindra Racing is preparing for round nine of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship as the series heads to the iconic Monaco circuit for the next race of Season 9.

The team will once again be looking for an improvement on the previous event in Berlin, where Oliver Rowland scored a championship point during the first race of the weekend. In 2019 the Brit achieved a podium at the legendary Monaco track, as part of an impressive season that saw him crowned Rookie of the Year.

Lucas Di Grassi will also look to add to his points tally this weekend at his second ‘home race’, after a frustrating weekend in his birth city of Sao Paulo in March. In addition to knowing the streets very well, he has also achieved a podium finish at this venue.

Aiming to build on his Berlin results, Oliver Rowland said: “I’m looking forward to Monaco. I won there in F2 and I have finished second in Formula E as well, so I’ve had some good runs in the past. The track is good fun. We race on the F1 circuit, something any young racing driver always dreams of achieving so I’m looking forward to seeing how we get on.”

Also pushing to be back in the points, Lucas Di Grassi said: “Monaco is my second home race of the season! It’s hopefully going to be a competitive run for us. The Monaco track is a classic and really nice but the track is very different to Berlin. I hope we learn quickly and have a successful weekend.”

Mahindra Racing CEO, Frederic Bertrand, said: “One point was scored in Berlin and in general we had good race pace but not sufficient to get our two cars in the points That is our goal and we need to work hard to prepare for a very demanding Monaco E-Prix. We need to be ready for this event, take the best out of the free practice sessions and focus on our qualifying performance. Reaching the duels stage is crucial to give ourselves the best chance in the race. “

The Monaco E-Prix begins at 15:00 local time on Saturday 6th May (14:00 GMT, 18:30 IST).

Mahindra Racing has a strong set of partners, including Official Powertrain Partner ZF and e-fluids partner Shell. Maurice Lacroix, the luxury Swiss watchmaker, continues as the Official Timekeeper.
