Mahindra Racing returns to India as Season 10 calendar updated
Mumbai / Banbury, October 19, 2023: Mahindra Racing will return to race on home soil on the streets of Hyderabad, India as part of the updated Season 10 calendar for the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
Following a hugely successful first visit to India for the world’s first all-electric motorsport series, including a capacity sell-out crowd of 31,000 people, Formula E returns to Hyderabad in 2024, with the support of Telangana Government and Minister K. T. Rama Rao.
The second running of the Hyderabad E-Prix will be held on 10th February, as the third fixture in an 11-event, 16-race calendar across the globe.
Commenting on the news, Mahindra Racing CEO Frederic Bertrand said: “I’m delighted to receive the news that Formula E will return to the streets of Hyderabad in Season 10.
“India has the potential to be such an exciting and key market for the championship. Last year was a fantastic event, with a very passionate and supportive crowd, and everybody at Mahindra Racing is looking forward to racing on home soil once again this year.”
Season 10 begins with a visit to Mexico City (13 January), before the first of five planned “double header” races in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia a fortnight later (27-28 January)
Following Hyderabad, the season resumes in Sao Paolo on 16th March after a one-month hiatus, before Formula E breaks new ground with its first visit to Tokyo on 30th March, marking the first time an FIA World Championship race has ever been held in the Japanese capital.
Two races at a to-be-determined venue in Italy are next, with further visits to Monaco (27 April), Berlin (11-12 May) forming the backbone of the calendar’s European leg.
Shanghai is another new addition to the calendar on 25-26 May as Formula E also returns to mainland China, where the first E-Prix was held 10 years ago in Beijing.
A trip stateside to Portland (29 June), and then finally to London (20-21 July) round out the series’ 10th-anniversary season.
