7 May 2019 – The tight and winding streets of Monte Carlo play host to round nine of the 2018/19 ABB FIA Formula E Championship. The Monaco E-Prix takes place this Saturday, 11 May, and is the third time the all-electric street racing series has visited the streets of the glamorous principality. Jérôme D'Ambrosio and Pascal Wehrlein will pilot the two M5Electros for Mahindra Racing.
Monaco has been the jewel in the crown of street racing for the past 90 years as it has played host to the famous Grand Prix since 1929. Formula E made its debut there in its first season in 2015, and has visited every other year since. The last time the series raced in Monte Carlo in season three, Mahindra Racing secured a third-place podium with Nick Heidfeld. The #64 and #94 M5Electro Formula E cars will go wheel-to-wheel racing on the 1.765km, 12-corner track around the iconic and historical streets of Monaco including its famous harbour front.
In one of the most unpredictable seasons in Formula E history, Mahindra Racing is currently fourth in the team championship with Jérôme D'Ambrosio still right in the midst of the fight in the driver battle, with just 16 points separating the top five drivers.
"I think it's nice to race in Monaco; not only because it's where I live but also because it's special to race in such an iconic and historic location. Once again, I think there will be a greater importance on qualifying, but we made big steps forward at the last race and I'd like to leave the Monaco E-Prix having achieved another Super Pole and fight for the win. We should feel confident going into the race weekend; I've never felt so comfortable in the car and we made some big steps forward racing in changeable conditions."
"Driving in Monaco just gives you a special feeling and we have the car and package to fight for good positions. I'm a fan of Attack Mode being on the outside of a slow corner, so that’s where I’d like it to be at the Monaco E-Prix. That means you lose time when you use it and you have to work on strategy with your team. I really liked where it was placed in Marrakesh; you lost around a second taking it, which meant you could even lose a position, but then you have the extra power to use on overtakes which makes the race more interesting."

"We know Monaco is difficult to overtake on but that didn't stop us in Paris. Both Jérôme and Pascal were the happiest they'd been with the car since the start of the season so, if we can get the set-up right, then we will be aiming to fight at the front for a podium position. We know it will be close racing in Monaco and Formula E with the competition being exceptionally strong in season five, but we will continue to push hard."
