A highly-experienced single-seater and Formula E driver, Jérôme d’Ambrosio continues with Mahindra Racing for his second consecutive year with the squad ahead of season six of the FIA Formula E Championship. Jérôme is one of only four drivers to have participated in every one of the 58 Formula E races across five seasons to date.

The Belgian caught the racing bug at the age of eight after having fun during a karting session while on holiday in Spain. In 1995, he started karting seriously, culminating in victory in the Formula A World Cup seven years later. d’Ambrosio then began progressing through the single-seater ranks in Formula Renault and Formula Renault 3.5 before winning his first major championship title in the inaugural season of International Formula Master in 2007. Making the leap to compete in the GP2 Series and GP2 Asia Series with DAMS, he finished Vice Champion in the latter series for the 2008-09 season.

During this time, d’Ambrosio was maintaining his position on the Renault F1 driver development programme, which he’d been part of since 2004. In 2010, Renault F1 appointed him as official test driver, with his Formula One race debut coming the following season with Marussia Virgin Racing. During his time with Marussia Virgin Racing and subsequently Lotus F1 in 2012-2013, he achieved 20 F1 race starts.

Following a short stint in sportscar racing, d’Ambrosio joined Dragon Racing for the first season of the FIA Formula E Championship in 2014. The Belgian spent four years with the team, competing in every single one of the all-electric series’ 45 races, claiming two race wins, seven podiums and two pole positions.

He joined Mahindra Racing ahead of the season five campaign and quickly impressed, taking a podium finish in his first race with his new team in Saudi Arabia, and following that up with a race win in Marrakesh. For season six of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship, d’Ambrosio continues with Mahindra Racing as it contests the 2019-20 title.
